Susana Jiménez Schuster

Minister of Energy, Chile

    Minister Jiménez holds a degree as an engineer on economics and business administration with a Master in n Economics from the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile (PUC). She also holds a degree in Free Competition from the PUC and a Master’s degree on Humanities from the Universidad del Desarrollo. She has been a professor at the University of Chile, Central University, Finis Terrae University and PUC.

    Jiménez worked until 1997 as an economist at the Research Division of the Central Bank of Chile and later as an economic advisor at the New York representation of the Ministry of Finance of Chile.

    Between 2000 and 2002 she has hold the position of Head of Studies at the Zahler & Co. Consultant. She subsequently worked as an associate economist at the P. Rojas y Asociados Consultancy, where she joined as a partner since 2009. She has been member of the advisory board of the Ministry of the Environment of Chile and is Director of the Chilean Society for Public Policies.

    Since May 2010 she has joined the think tank Libertad y Desarrollo (LyD) as senior economist, being in charge of studies related to energy, environment, regulation, free competition and water resources. As of January 2017, she took over duties as Deputy Director of LyD.
